Summer is just around the corner and it’s time to get into that teeny weenie bikini! But wait, is your bikini area ready for those skimpy bottoms? If you’re still sporting hair down there, now is the perfect time to explore your options in hair removal. The best one for you will depend on how much you’re willing to spend and how much time you can spare for keeping it all bare.

Shaving – this is the easiest and most affordable method so far since it only requires a razor and shaving cream. When you need to remove hair quickly, you can just reach for the razor and run it over your skin. However, hair comes back quite fast; stubbles will start to appear in a day or two. Also, you run the risk of getting nicks and ingrown hairs. Always put shaving cream on skin before shaving to make skin smoother and to avoid cuts.
Hair removal creams – also called depilatories, these are thick creams that contain chemicals that dissolve the hair from the skin’s surface. Just like shaving, hair isn’t pulled from the roots so you may have to do this often if you want to maintain hairless skin.
Waxing – if the idea of shaving every other day does not appeal to you, consider getting your bikini area waxed instead. Booking for waxing in Canberra is easy since many salons and spas offer the service. Your bikini area will become smooth as a baby’s bottom since hair is completely removed from the pores. Of course, you will have to deal with the pain that comes with having hair ripped off from your skin, but many say that it’s actually tolerable and it gets better after numerous waxing sessions. Another downside here is that you have to let the hair grow up to a certain length before you can have it waxed again.
Sugaring – if you find waxing too painful, you can try sugaring as a more comfortable alternative. Paste or gel with sugar-like grains is placed on the area and then this is pulled off from the skin after a few minutes. You can actually do this on your own since there are sugaring products you can readily buy, but if this is your first time, it’s best to let a professional do the work.
Laser/IPL – pulsed light is used to disable the hair follicle to lessen hair growth. This is the most effective method for the long-term, but only if you have the budget for it. It can be quite expensive and prices will depend per salon or skin clinic.
